the plans and people behind the car

Running Gear
While the Bullitt Mustang on screen famously began life as a 390GT, the engine and transmission used in the movie were not stock. Max Balchowsky replaced the engine, transmission, clutch, rear end, U-joints, suspension, and more. We have done the same to this car, but with a different approach.

Body and Paint
Meticulously executed, the body and paint work was performed by Steve Mulcahy and Tim Deal at Steve’s Garage in Boring, Oregon.
-
Movie Details
Max Balchowsky made some beautiful exterior modifications to make this a truly unique 1968 Mustang Fastback. Beginning with a Highland Green exterior, the devil was in the details finding and recreating Balchowsky’s tweaks and omissions.
-
Interior
A black vinyl decor group interior is coded on the original movie Bullitt Mustang data plate. Every effort was made to recreate this interior, with a few minor additions.
-
Audio
Factory appearance was important in this build, but so was good sound. We took a creative approach to (mostly) hide the 3000-watt 9-speaker Bluetooth sound system.

Exhaust and Suspension
As much fun as movie-accurate straight pipes would be, headers and custom exhaust gives this an awesome sound. A fully adjustable aftermarket suspension makes for a completely different driving experience than a stock 60’s Mustang.
